The efficiency of a boiler is assessed by their ability to turn fuel into
heat. From now on all newly installed boilers must be condensing boilers as they
typically rate around 90% efficient.
To dispel some of the myths surrounding condensing boilers, here are some
facts about installation:
- Your old boiler can be replaced with a condensing type be it floor standing
or wall mounted - there are also different fluing options available
- With regard to siting the condensing boiler this will be much the same as a
conventional boiler.
- Condensing boilers are available as system boilers, regular boiler and
combination boilers. They can be installed in fully pumped systems as well and
all with the same ease as a conventional boiler
- When installing a condensing boiler as a replacement, there is no need to
change the current installation, as the improved efficiency will still be met.
Over-sized radiators will not increase this efficiency enough to warrant any
costly changes. Typically a condensing boiler will have an efficiency of 83-92%
in comparison to a conventional boiler of 75% or older boilers of
55-60%
